Apeiron Bioenergy

Apeiron Bioenergy’s “The Oil Cycle” project addresses the environmental and infrastructural challenges posed by improper disposal of used cooking oil (UCO) in ASEAN countries. By diverting UCO from waste streams and repurposing it into biodiesel, the initiative aims to reduce water pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and decrease reliance on fossil fuels. The project involves deploying smart UCO collection machines in residential areas, supported by community engagement and educational workshops to promote responsible UCO disposal. ABIC funding will be used for deploying collection machines, running educational workshops, and evaluating the program’s effectiveness, as well as developing an expansion plan. In the next six months, Apeiron Bioenergy will focus on deploying UCO collection machines in key residential locations, gathering valuable community feedback, and increasing awareness about the environmental hazards of improper UCO disposal. Within two years, Apeiron Bioenergy envisions scaling the UCO recycling initiative across multiple communities in ASEAN countries, embedding responsible UCO disposal practices within households and businesses. By mainstreaming UCO recycling through a network of accessible collection points and sustained community outreach, the project aims to significantly reduce environmental impact and foster a circular economy.
