Aquaculture of Lao

The Aquaculture of Lao project seeks to revitalize fish hatcheries in Lao PDR through a data-driven approach, addressing the decline of fish stocks in the Mekong River Basin. The project aims to optimize hatchery operations, boost fish production, and conserve biodiversity by integrating sensors, monitoring systems, and AI algorithms. This innovation will support local fish farmers with affordable, locally adapted hatchery tools, reducing reliance on imports. The project also emphasizes community engagement with small-scale farmers to promote sustainable aquaculture practices and improve livelihoods. Funding will cover sensor procurement, system integration, data platform development, and AI algorithm deployment. In the next six months, the project will focus on developing a fully functional small-scale hatchery model, gathering data for analysis, and launching training programs for local farmers. Within two years, the project aims to scale the model across multiple hatcheries, establish a knowledge-sharing hub, advocate for supportive policies, and contribute to economic empowerment and the ecological restoration of the Mekong River.
