Plastic Pollution Challenge

The Integrated System for Diseases in Aquaculture (ISDA) is an innovative mobile application to combat disease outbreaks in Southeast Asian shrimp and tilapia farming. The app uses artificial intelligence to detect critical viruses such as the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) and Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV), providing real-time monitoring, data collection, and analysis. This user-friendly and affordable solution promises to transform the aquaculture industry by enhancing food security and economic resilience while promoting sustainable fisheries. Funding from ABIC will support the app’s development and the establishment of a zero-waste management system. In the next six months, Aquagentech aims to launch a reliable mobile application that monitors WSSV and TiLV infections, helping fishermen detect health issues in their aquatic populations. This technology will facilitate early intervention, reduce losses, and promote healthier ecosystems, supporting sustainable fisheries and aquaculture practices. Looking ahead two years, Aquagentech envisions widespread adoption of advanced disease monitoring technology in Philippine aquaculture. By enabling early detection of aquatic diseases, stakeholders—including farm operators and cooperatives—will see increased yields and healthier ecosystems, fostering sustainable practices that benefit local communities and enhance food security.
