Awng Dang Awng is addressing Myanmar’s waste management challenges through two innovative recycling initiatives: wastewater recycling and plastic waste recycling. The project aims to help local SMEs issue plastic credits and create valuable byproducts like plastoleum (plastic diesel). By piloting these initiatives in Yangon and the Bago Delta, the project seeks to divert waste from landfills, improve water resources, and promote a circular economy. ABIC funding will support the implementation of the recycling systems and facilitate the issuance of plastic credits. In the next six months, the project will pilot waste recycling systems, processing three tons of plastic waste to produce five to ten barrels of plastoleum, followed by wastewater recycling for industrial use in the Bago region. In the next two years, the project aims to scale up by establishing plastoleum oil plants and wastewater recycling systems with the capacity to process nine tons of plastic waste, produce 15-30 barrels of plastoleum, and facilitate the issuance of various environmental credits, including plastic, carbon, water, and energy credits, across Myanmar.
