Plastic Pollution Challenge

Daly Trading’s Chipt project introduces a reusable container service to reduce single-use plastic waste in Southeast Asia’s takeaway coffee and boba tea industry, starting in Malaysia. Chipt operates on a subscription model using RFID/NFC and QR code technology to track and manage reusable cups, which customers can borrow and return at participating cafes and restaurants. This system promotes sustainable consumption, reduces plastic waste, and supports the transition to a circular economy. ABIC funding will be used for Amazon Web Services migration, WebApp upgrades, integration with payment platforms, and the distribution of RFID-, NFC- and QR-enabled cups across 10 locations. In the next six months, Chipt aims to successfully launch its system, converting users from single-use to returnable cups while demonstrating measurable reductions in waste and carbon footprint. Within two years, the project envisions expanding to include other reusable containers, such as food delivery and bubble tea cups, and entering new markets in Singapore and Indonesia, further amplifying its environmental impact.
